Friends. Forever?
Where do you stand on Ross and Rachel?
Were they, as Ross maintained, on a break? Or did you agree with Rachel? Or perhaps like me, you were tickled to see Courtney Cox’s recent re-enactment of the memorable ‘PIVOT’ scene on her brand-new Instagram account.
Whatever your take on Friends, if you were born in the ’80s or early ’90s, it’s likely that you have some sort of opinion on the seminal US sitcom. You may also, like me, have recently watched an episode (maybe, even the whole damn lot of them) and wondered; why do we still laugh at the Central Perk crew?
And while recent think-pieces have looked at the sitcom with a contemporary viewpoint, pointing out some very valid flaws in its premise (such as its depiction of a very white and relatively privileged set of Friends), the sitcom remains a stalwart of TV and streaming schedules.
Indeed, with its addition to Netflix, it’s now possible to follow the adventures of Monica, Chandler, et. al across every hour of the day — that’s if you haven’t already caught up with the action across Comedy Central.
